About The Position

Alvernia University’s ACBSP-accredited School of Business invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor of Accounting position beginning either Spring 2027 or Fall 2027, as negotiated. The School offers a major in Accounting and seeks a dynamic scholar-practitioner to contribute to the continued growth of its programs. The School of Business, housed in Alvernia’s recently renovated Reading CollegeTowne facility, features technology-enhanced classrooms and a business lab equipped with Bloomberg Terminals. The School collaborates closely with the O’Pake Institute for Entrepreneurship and Economic Development, supporting faculty engaged in applied scholarship and experiential learning. As an ACBSP-accredited institution, Alvernia values faculty who bring both academic and professional experience to provide a strong balance of marketing theory, practice, and scholarship in support of program goals. Requirements

  • CPA or Ph.D. in Accounting or in a closely related field from an accredited institution.
  • Those with significant and relevant field experience may also apply.
  • Demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching and student engagement.
  • Ability to integrate diverse pedagogical approaches in various learning environments.
  • Defined research agenda and evidence of scholarly potential.
  • Commitment to service within the department, university, and broader community.

Responsibilities

  • Teach undergraduate and graduate accounting courses in traditional day, accelerated adult, online, and hybrid formats.
  • Advise and mentor students.
  • Participate in curriculum development, program assessment, and departmental initiatives.
  • Engage in service to the department, college, and university consistent with Alvernia’s mission.
  • A commitment to high-impact teaching practices such as experiential learning, service learning, action research, and innovative pedagogy is expected.
