About The Position

The University of Olivet, a liberal arts institution with an historical commitment to inclusion, diversity, and social justice, seeks an Assistant Professor of Accounting to join its vibrant business department serving undergraduate and graduate students on-campus in Olivet, Michigan. This position has primary assignment in the on-campus undergraduate programs located in Olivet, Michigan, though occasional opportunities to teach at the graduate level as well as in our online degree completion program are possible. Hires at other ranks may be considered for candidates with exceptional qualifications. Students from underrepresented minorities constitute 26% of the current student body, with almost 20% of the student body identifying as African American. Approximately half of the student body is Pell grant eligible. Members of historically underrepresented groups are strongly encouraged to apply.

Requirements

  • MBA or graduate degree in accounting or business-related field required.
  • Experience teaching in-person classes.
  • Strong sense of themselves as an educator.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to teaching and mentoring students in an inclusive, ethnically diverse environment.
  • Open to innovation and collaboration.

Nice To Haves

  • CPA certification desired.
  • Business/industry experience preferred.
  • Demonstrate problem-based and solution-oriented approaches to teaching that center the perspectives of historically disadvantaged or underrepresented communities.

Responsibilities

  • Instruct standard undergraduate courses in accounting and business.
  • Instruct courses within the university’s general studies program.
  • Advise and mentor students.
  • Engage in scholarly activities.
  • Support the university and its mission through departmental and university committee participation, program and curriculum development, and other service.
