About The Position

The Charles W. Lamden School of Accountancy in the Fowler College of Business at San Diego State University (SDSU) invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor with expertise in Accounting Information Systems or Auditing to begin August 18, 2027. Candidates must demonstrate experience in and/or commitment to teaching. Applicants should possess a strong research interest and capability, evidenced by a history of or potential for professional growth. This includes regular publication in quality, refereed journals, participation in professional conferences, and an active, innovative research agenda. Candidates must also demonstrate the ability to interact effectively with the business community. The candidate will be expected to teach in the areas of Managerial Accounting or Taxation. The Charles W. Lamden School of Accountancy is AACSB Accounting accredited with approximately 800 undergraduate students and 100 graduate students. The School’s academic programs are a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (BSBA) – Accounting Major, Master of Science in Accountancy (MSA), Master of Science in Accountancy and Data Analytics (STEM), and a combined 4+1 degree program (BMACC). The School’s faculty includes 15 tenure-track faculty as well as several full- and part-time lecturers. Support for research includes access to databases (e.g., WRDS), funding for approved projects through grant programs, graduate student assistants, and a research budget for conference travel and items/data supporting research.

Requirements

  • Doctorate in Accountancy or a related field, with all degree requirements met before the first day of the Fall 2027 semester, August 18, 2027.
  • A record of original research / scholarly / creative accomplishments and demonstrated capacity to a) develop a vigorous and independent program of research / scholarship / creative activity, b) teach graduate and undergraduate courses; and c) engage in both campus and professional service activities.
  • Demonstration of past accomplishments and/or future plans in at least two (2) or more of the “Building on Inclusive Excellence” criteria.
  • Authorization to conduct background checks if they become a finalist for the position.
