About The Position

The Department of Translational Neuroscience in the John Sealy School of Medicine at The University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB) invites applications for several tenure-track faculty positions at the Assistant and/or Associate Professor levels. We are seeking innovative scientists to join our team and advance neuroscience research and its clinical applications. We are particularly interested in candidates with a strong neuroscience background and expertise in Microbiome and Gut-Brain Axis, Bioinformatics and Multiomics, and Biomarkers and Human Tissues and Samples. Successful candidates will establish extramurally funded research programs, contribute to our educational mission, and engage in collaborative initiatives across UTMB.

Requirements

  • PhD, MD, or MD/PhD in neuroscience or a related field
  • Strong record of research accomplishments and publications
  • Independent extramural funding

Nice To Haves

  • Expertise in Microbiome and Gut-Brain Axis: Research on gut-brain connections in neurological function/disease
  • Expertise in Bioinformatics and Multiomics: Analysis of large-scale biological data such as transcriptomics for neurological insights into disease mechanisms and targets
  • Expertise in Biomarkers and Human Tissues and Samples: Utilizing human samples for biomarker identification, disease mechanisms, and translational research
