About The Position

Parker University, the fourth-fastest growing college in Texas and the fastest-growing college in Dallas, is currently searching for a Assistant Professor- MS Anatomy to join our rapidly expanding team! We are seeking individuals who desire to use their unique skills to innovate and make an impact. The Assistant Professor will deliver high-quality instruction that equips students with the knowledge, skills, and professional competencies necessary to succeed in their program of study and chosen healthcare profession. Prepare students for applicable licensure or certification examinations and provide instruction in areas such as wellness promotion, health assessment, diagnosis, and patient case management, as appropriate to the program and scope of practice.

Requirements

  • An advanced graduate, doctorate or professional degree that demonstrates mastery in a relevant subject.
  • A minimum of three years of full-time teaching; documented participation in research and/or scholarly activities is preferred.
  • All other requirements per Rank Advancement as outlined in the Faculty Handbook.
  • Minimum professional experience, as appropriate for any applicable programmatic accreditation.
  • A current certificate or license as applicable to the program of instruction, additional postgraduate certifications are preferred.
  • Participation in professional development and service to the institution.
  • Participation in course evaluation and improvement strategies.
  • Completed 18 graduate hours in the discipline being taught.
  • Evidence of ability as an effective teacher.
  • Evidence of the ability to engage in research, scholarly, and/or creative activity.
  • Evidence of ability to provide service to the institution and the community.
  • Competence in their respective field of study.
  • Effective communication in the English language, both verbal and written.
  • Proficiency with appropriate lab equipment.
  • Proficiency in software applications common in higher education environments, such as the Microsoft Suite, student information systems, and Learning Management Systems.
  • Good organizational skills.
  • Compliance with the applicable state and federal laws and regulations and accepted industry standards as associated with courses taught in their respective discipline.
  • Professional dress and demeanor; positive attitude and willingness to work with other faculty as part of a team and be supportive of the University.

  • Experience with online teaching and the learning management systems is preferred but not required.
  • Experience in academic course and laboratory design.
  • Experience with online teaching and the Blackboard learning management system is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Course Management, Delivery and Instruction: Faculty members are responsible to design, deliver and manage their course in accordance with the guidance provided to them by their direct supervisor. This includes, but is not limited to, the following: Prepare and adhere to a syllabus in Parker’s required format. Clearly communicate course requirements, means of evaluation, deadlines, and policies to students. Hold classes and laboratories as scheduled; take attendance and submit it timely. Develop high-quality means of evaluating student learning outcomes and apply them fairly and consistently in accordance with Parker policies, as well as methods and timelines set forth in the syllabus. Submit final grades and required course documentation timely. Follow Parker policies and procedures in all elements of course management. Address student concerns identified in course evaluations. Utilize the University’s learning management system and other required instructional technologies to deliver course content, communicate with students, maintain grades, and document student progress. Maintain an accurate and current electronic gradebook throughout the course. Provide timely, substantive, and constructive feedback on student assignments, assessments, and performance. Deliver instruction consistent with approved course learning outcomes, curriculum, course content, and program requirements. Utilize appropriate instructional strategies and technologies to support student engagement and achievement of learning outcomes. Ensure instructional materials and course activities comply with University accessibility requirements.
  • Student Interaction: Faculty members generally have more direct contact with students than any other institutional employee and are responsible to manage that contact consistent with the highest ethical and professional standards. Maintain appropriate professional boundaries with students. Respond timely to student e-mails and voicemails. Provide advising and additional academic support including maintaining required office hours to review examinations and other graded work and directing student towards appropriate resources. Monitor student performance and attendance, contact students at risk, submit early alerts when appropriate. Fairly and consistently apply Parker academic and student conduct policies.
  • Curricular and Programmatic Quality, Integrity, and Review: The faculty, within the framework provided by programmatic accreditation standards and institutional vision and mission, has responsibility for curricular maintenance and improvement. Assist in vertical and horizontal integration of curriculum. Participate in Quality Enhancement Plan, OSCE exams, and other activities designed to evaluate student learning outcomes. Contribute to maintenance and/or improvement of programmatic outcomes such as National exam scores, Student Satisfaction Surveys, Graduate Exit Surveys, etc. Administer examinations and other assessments in accordance with University and program policies, including requirements related to examination security and academic integrity. Protect the confidentiality and security of examinations, assessment materials, student records, and other educational information. Identify and appropriately report suspected academic misconduct in accordance with University policies and procedures. Participate in assessment of course and program learning outcomes and provide requested assessment data or documentation. Maintain confidentiality of student educational records and information in accordance with FERPA and University policy. Implement approved student accommodations in coordination with the appropriate University office. Refer students to appropriate academic, disability, counseling, financial, or other support resources when needs extend beyond the faculty member’s role. Complete required institutional training, including training related to Title IX, FERPA, safety, compliance, and other University requirements. Fulfill applicable mandatory reporting responsibilities in accordance with federal and state requirements and University policy.
  • Professionalism and Scholarly Activity: Faculty members are part of the overall institutional team and are expected to not only contribute to the success of their individual courses and/or program, but also to the success of the University as a whole. Engage with all Parker stakeholders in accordance with Parker values, policies, and procedures. Respond timely to requests from direct supervisor, as well as other University offices. Attend and participate in university events, including scheduled faculty meetings and three commencements per year. Engage in ongoing professional development in discipline(s) taught and educational methods. Contribute to scholarly works. Participate in service activities. Maintain required professional licenses, certifications, credentials, and competencies applicable to the assigned discipline. Comply with applicable laboratory, clinical, infection-control, safety, and emergency procedures. Protect the security and integrity of examinations, student records, University information, and instructional materials. Provide documentation and participate in activities necessary to support institutional and programmatic accreditation, regulatory compliance, and continuous quality improvement.
  • Accreditation and Institutional Effectiveness: Provide course records, assessment results, syllabi, faculty documentation, and other information needed for institutional or programmatic accreditation and regulatory compliance. Participate, as requested, in activities related to accreditation, program review, curriculum assessment, and continuous quality improvement. Maintain required documentation demonstrating compliance with institutional, programmatic, and accreditor requirements.
