About The Position

A probationary tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor is available in the Department of Kinesiology. The department seeks a dynamic candidate with expertise in Kinesiology who is committed to teaching excellence and to maintaining an active research program involving both undergraduate and graduate students. This appointment carries an initial two-year probationary appointment beginning with the 2027-2028 academic year with a start date of August 16, 2027.

Requirements

• Earned doctorate in Kinesiology, Exercise Physiology, or related area by August 16, 2027 (ABD applicants may be considered but must complete the terminal degree by the start date).

Nice To Haves

• Successful college/university teaching experience at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
• Evidence of professional and scholarly activity and commitment to student/faculty research at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
• Ability to teach core program courses and/or courses serving multiple department programs.
• Experience in supervising clinical students, if applicable.
• Experience working in clinical, commercial, worksite, and/or community health/fitness settings and professional certification through nationally recognized organizations (ACSM, NSCA, or NASM) are also preferred.
• Demonstrated commitment to support and enhance the diversity and cultural and global awareness of students, faculty, and staff.

Responsibilities

• Teach up to an equivalent of 12 credits per semester/24 per year of courses in the area of expertise (e.g. Rehabilitation Science, Exercise Physiology Lab Procedures, Behavior Change Theories, Graded Exercise Testing, Corrective Exercise, etc.) as a faculty member in the department.
• Advise undergraduate and graduate students within the department.
• Engage in scholarly activities through collaboration with students and other faculty members within and outside the department.
• Provide service to the department, college, university, profession, and community.
