About The Position

The Department of Computer Science in the School of Engineering at the University of New Mexico invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor position. We welcome candidates in all areas of computing, particularly those with expertise in quantum computing, theory and algorithms, or cybersecurity. UNM CS has 21 tenured and tenure-track faculty, including nine NSF CAREER Award recipients and one PECASE recipient. Our faculty lead three new School of Engineering centers and the newly appointed director of the Center for Advanced Research Computing (CARC) is from CS. We maintain strong ties with several local institutions, including Sandia and Los Alamos National Laboratories, the Quantum New Mexico Institute, the Santa Fe Institute, and the Air Force Research Laboratory. UNM CS offers an ABET-accredited undergraduate program and MS and PhD programs. Our faculty teach core courses, develop advanced offerings in their areas, and mentor undergraduate and graduate students for careers in industry, research, and academia. The department is housed in the LEED Gold-certified Farris Engineering Center, which brings Computer Science together with Chemical and Biological Engineering and Nuclear Engineering. The building includes computational laboratories, research rooms, and spaces for student study, meetings, and collaboration. UNM is a Research 1: Very High Research Spending and Doctorate Production Institution and a federally designated Hispanic-Serving Institution. Its dual-career hiring policies support the recruitment and retention of faculty and their partners. Our mentoring culture and collaborations across UNM give new faculty opportunities to develop ambitious ideas with colleagues and students. Requirements

Must have completed a doctorate in Computer Science or a closely related area by their employment start date.
