About The Position

The Department of History at Fairfield University seeks applications for a tenure-track assistant professor in the history of China, period open, to begin fall 2027, pending final budget approval. Teaching responsibilities are three classes per semester (two preps). The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching courses at all levels of our undergraduate curriculum including introductory courses, intermediate survey courses, and advanced seminars in one's specialty. Candidates should have a demonstrated record of excellence in teaching, scholarly research, and service at the university level. We seek candidates who will contribute to the University's core curriculum priorities of writing across the curriculum, social justice, and interdisciplinarity. The successful candidate should expect to participate in Asian Studies and may contribute to other interdisciplinary programs in the Meditz College of Arts and Sciences. Fairfield University is a Jesuit Catholic university, consistently ranked as a top comprehensive university in New England, located in the scenic shoreline community of Fairfield, CT, one hour from New York City along Long Island Sound. Requirements

  • PhD in History required by time of appointment.
  • Demonstrated record of excellence in teaching.
  • Demonstrated record of scholarly research.
  • Demonstrated record of service at the university level.
