Texas A&M-Victoria seeks one full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor of U.S. History with a start date of August 2027. The Department of Social Science at Texas A&M-Victoria invites applications for a tenure-track position in U.S. History. A doctoral degree in U.S. History, or in a closely related field, by the start date is required. The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to undergraduate education and will contribute to a vibrant department that supports multiple majors, including History, Psychology, Political Science, and Criminal Justice. The area of research specialization in U.S. History is open, but applications that demonstrate a willingness to teach and/or research the methods of Applied History are preferred. Teaching responsibilities include both introductory surveys in U.S. history from 1492 to the present, as well as in-person and online upper-level courses in the candidate’s area of specialization, which may include offering courses that align with the program’s new focus in Applied History. Evidence of an active research agenda and the ability to publish in the field of expertise are expected.
