About The Position

Northwest Missouri State University is seeking an Assistant Professor of Geographic Information Science. This role is responsible for teaching twelve hours per semester, including advanced undergraduate and graduate geography courses. The professor will also complete research leading to publication in peer-reviewed journals, engage in other scholarly activity, participate in university service including committee work, and advise students. Additionally, the role involves developing courses for online delivery.

Requirements

  • A Doctorate degree in Geography, Geographic Information Science, or closely related field.
  • Demonstrated ability teaching undergraduate and graduate courses at the college level.
  • Demonstrated ability teaching online courses at the college level.
  • Experience may be gained during post-secondary degree program.

Responsibilities

  • Teaching twelve hours per semester (fall and spring semesters) including advanced undergraduate and graduate geography courses such as Geographic Information Systems, Digital Cartography and Geovisualization and Fundamental of Geostatistics.
  • Complete research leading to publication in peer reviewed journals and engage in other scholarly activity.
  • Participate in University service, including committee work at the School and University levels.
  • Advise students.
  • Develop courses for online delivery.
