The Department of English at the University of Nevada, Reno invites applications for an assistant professor in Film Studies and Post-1945 U.S. Literature to begin July 1, 2027. The candidate should have an active research agenda and teaching experience in film studies and U.S. literature. Applicants possessing or expecting PhDs in English, Film Studies, or related fields no later than July 1, 2027, are invited to apply. We are especially eager to interview candidates who wish to be actively engaged in the curricular development of our growing minor in Cinema and Media Studies. The faculty member who joins the department can expect to contribute to the department’s undergraduate and graduate programs and will participate in the university’s Core Humanities Program housed within the College of Liberal Arts. The successful candidate will be expected to maintain an active program of research and contribute to the department’s undergraduate and graduate programs. The standard teaching load is 2-2, with substantial involvement in graduate education, including graduate-level teaching, student mentoring and advising, and service as chair or member of graduate committees.
