About The Position

The College of Business Administration (CBA) at the University of Wisconsin–La Crosse is seeking an Assistant Professor in Economics. The CBA has over 3,000 students, offers eight majors, seven minors, and participates in the UW System’s online MBA consortium. It is accredited by AACSB International and recognized for its quality programs and strong partnerships. The department is committed to evaluating undergraduate and graduate outcomes for continuous improvement. The review of applications begins on July 7, 2026, with priority given to applications received by this date. Applications will be reviewed until the position is filled. Initial interviews will be virtual, with finalists invited to campus.

Requirements

  • Doctorate in Economics or related field by start date.
  • Expertise in at least one of the following fields: Development Economics, Labor Economics, or Health Economics.
  • Evidence of the ability to be an effective instructor.
  • Evidence of clear and effective communication skills.
  • A demonstrated record of publication in peer-reviewed academic journals in Labor Economics, Health Economics, Development Economics, or closely related areas.
  • Experience teaching courses in one or more of the following areas: data analysis for business, labor economics, health economics, and Women in the U.S. Economy.

Responsibilities

  • Teaching undergraduate and/or graduate courses (if applicable) and advising students.
  • Preparing for and holding classes.
  • Maintaining currency in the content area related to the teaching assignment.
  • Evaluating students’ work.
  • Assessing student outcomes.
  • Providing regular and substantive feedback on student work.
  • Maintaining appropriate records.
  • Holding office hours.
  • Maintaining an active, on-going program of scholarship appropriate to their discipline.
  • Providing service to the department, college, university, community and/or professional organizations.
  • Other duties as assigned by the chair or dean.
