About The Position

This is a notice of filing for an Assistant Professor - Economics position at the University of Wisconsin La Crosse. This posting is mandatory to meet a United States Department of Labor requirement because a U.S. worker was not selected for the position. A competitive recruitment and selection process was conducted. The College of Business Administration (CBA) at the University of Wisconsin–La Crosse includes six academic departments and the Small Business Development Center, with over 3,000 students enrolled in one of the eight majors offered. The CBA offers seven minors and participates in the UW System’s online MBA consortium. It is fully accredited by AACSB International and is recognized for high-quality faculty, staff, programs, and students, and maintains strong regional and global partnerships. A robust Assurance of Learning program regularly evaluates undergraduate and graduate outcomes, supporting accountability and continuous improvement. The review of applications starts on July 7, 2026, and applications received on or before July 7th are prioritized. Review will continue until the position(s) is/are filled. Initial interviews will be conducted virtually, with shortlisted candidates invited to campus.

Requirements

  • Doctorate in Economics or related field by start date.
  • Expertise in at least one of the following fields: Development Economics, Labor Economics, or Health Economics.
  • Evidence of the ability to be an effective instructor.
  • Evidence of clear and effective communication skills.
  • A demonstrated record of publication in peer-reviewed academic journals in Labor Economics, Health Economics, Development Economics, or closely related areas.
  • Experience teaching courses in one or more of the following areas: data analysis for business, labor economics, health economics, and Women in the U.S. Economy.

Responsibilities

  • Teaching undergraduate and/or graduate courses (if applicable) and advising students.
  • Preparing for and holding classes.
  • Maintaining currency in the content area related to the teaching assignment.
  • Evaluating students’ work.
  • Assessing student outcomes.
  • Providing regular and substantive feedback on student work.
  • Maintaining appropriate records.
  • Holding office hours.
  • Maintaining an active, on-going program of scholarship appropriate to their discipline.
  • Providing service to the department, college, university, community and/or professional organizations.
  • Other duties may be assigned by the chair or dean.
