About The Position

The Department of Psychology at East Tennessee State University invites applications for the Director of the ETSU Behavioral Health and Wellness Clinic (BHWC), the on-campus training clinic for the APA-accredited Doctoral Program in Clinical Psychology. This position works collaboratively with the Director of Clinical Training and clinical faculty to support the BHWC’s dual mission of providing high-quality behavioral health services and professionally meaningful training experiences for doctoral students in clinical psychology. Primary responsibilities include developing, coordinating, and overseeing the activities of the BHWC; pursuing established clinic goals related to client services and graduate clinical training; supervising clinic office staff and contracted supervisory personnel, as needed; and coordinating clinical supervision for doctoral practicum students training within the clinic and, when appropriately credentialed, providing clinical supervision within the scope of the Clinic Director’s professional licensure. The Clinic Director also teaches graduate-level coursework related to clinical practice, advises the Director of Clinical Training regarding emerging training needs and professional practice issues, and in coordination with the DCT, may assist with relationships involving external clinical training and service facilities. Additional responsibilities may include oversight of clinic operational systems and processes that support the delivery of training and services within the BHWC.

Requirements

  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
  • Commitment to ethical practice consistent with the APA code of ethics
  • Ability to work effectively with populations in a positive, collaborative, and task-oriented manner
  • Ability to work collegially and collaboratively as a member of a clinical training program team
  • Knowledge of trends and developments in behavioral health practice and graduate clinical training
  • Ability to support graduate clinical training and coordinate clinical supervision within a multidisciplinary behavioral health training environment
  • Provision of clinical supervision and instruction when appropriate to the individual’s professional credentials and scope of practice
  • Knowledge of the provisions of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA)
  • Interest in and willingness to develop expertise in rural and/or primary care settings, and integrated models of training
  • Knowledge of, and ability to learn, software and systems necessary to support clinic operations, including electronic health records (EHR)s, scheduling systems, BHWC website monitoring, and development/maintenance of BHWC promotional materials
  • At least a Master’s degree in counseling, psychology, social work, or a closely related field
  • Must be licensed or license-eligible as an LPC-MHSP, LCSW, LMFT, or HSP psychologist in the State of Tennessee

Nice To Haves

  • At least two years’ experience practicing as a fully credentialed behavioral health professional
  • Previous clinic administration
  • Ph.D., Ed.D., or Psy.D. in (Clinical/Counseling) Psychology from an APA-accredited program
  • APA-accredited internship in clinical or counseling psychology
