About The Position

Shenandoah University’s Division of Athletic Training is hiring a full-time, benefited Assistant Professor who will teach and advise students in the didactic and clinical phases of the Master of Science in Athletic Training (MSAT) program and serve as Director of Clinical Education (DCE). The position is located in the Health Professions Building in Winchester, Virginia. The DCE develops athletic training clinical experience (ATCE) sites and ensures that student clinical experiences are conducted at sites meeting defined criteria as quality learning centers. The DCE also facilitates problem-solving related to clinical issues raised by clinical preceptors, faculty, or students, and communicates regularly with the Program Director, Associate Director of Clinical Education, faculty, students, and preceptors about clinical experience issues. Faculty are expected to participate in interprofessional education, scholarship, and service, including active participation on division, school, and university committees. The position also offers the opportunity for eight hours per week of clinical practice in service to the athletic training profession. Applicants must be certified athletic trainers in good standing with the Board of Certification (BOC), and must have or be eligible for Virginia athletic trainer licensure. A traditional doctorate (EdD, PhD, DHSc, or ScD) or clinically related doctorate (DAT, DPT, or OTD) is required. Candidates must have 3–5 years of experience serving as a clinical coordinator for a master’s-level Athletic Training Program, as well as strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills and the ability to work effectively with a diverse student population. A complete application includes a letter of intent, curriculum vitae, and contact information for three professional references. Application review begins immediately and continues until a qualified candidate is selected. A pre-employment background check is required, and a satisfactory driving record may be required as a condition of hire. Authorization to work in the United States is a precondition of employment; the university is not currently able to sponsor international visas. Shenandoah University values diverse perspectives and fosters an inviting community where individuals are welcome and respected. The university does not discriminate on protected grounds under applicable law.
