The Ohio State University College of Dentistry invites applications for a full-time (12 months) tenure track faculty member at the rank of assistant or associate professor in the Division of Dental Hygiene. This position offers an exciting opportunity to participate in a division that is structured on the principles of patient care through a comprehensive, integrated small-group practice with predoctoral and dental hygiene students, and an interdisciplinary model of health care delivery within a nationally ranked college of dentistry. The Division of Dental Hygiene has a traditional bachelor’s degree entry-level program, an online bachelor’s degree completion program, and an online Master’s of Science, Dental Hygiene graduate program. The responsibility for this position will be an equal amount of scholarly engagement and teaching; directing and supporting didactic and clinical courses in any of the division’s three academic programs; and regularly serving as thesis advisor for master’s students. Additional responsibilities and opportunities include contributing to the college’s continuing education program, college governance, intramural faculty practice, and any other assignments as determined by the division chair. The successful candidate will possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills and a desire to create an environment that promotes collegiality, collaboration, and cultural diversity among members of various education, research, and service communities. A willingness to serve as a role model and advocate for the ideals of professionalism and high ethical standards in scholarship and health science educational setting is essential. Successful candidates will also demonstrate the ability to engage students in active learning and demonstrate modern pedagogical practices in their teaching.
