About The Position

Children's Hospital of Philadelphia and the Division of Emergency Medicine in the Department of Pediatrics at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seek candidates for an Assistant Professor position in the non-tenure clinician educator track. The role combines teaching, clinical care, and research or scholarship responsibilities. Clinical opportunities are available in Philadelphia and at affiliated institutions in Southern New Jersey, King of Prussia, Pennsylvania, and Newark, Delaware.

Requirements

• M.D. or equivalent degree.
• Board-certified in Pediatric Emergency Medicine or board-eligible.

Responsibilities

• Participate in the clinical education of medical students, residents, and fellows as a member of the Division of Emergency Medicine.
• Mentor trainees, including fellows and graduate students, in the applicant’s area of interest.
• Mentor postdoctoral fellows, students, and fellows, and supervise research staff.
• Provide direct patient care in an Emergency Department in Philadelphia, PA, which has an annual volume of over 100,000 visits; clinical employment opportunities are also available at affiliate institutions.
• Maintain knowledge of current emergency department studies and participate in patient enrollment as needed.
• Establish a portfolio of collaborative and independent research related to an identified field of interest within Pediatric Emergency Medicine.
• Serve as primary author and co-author for reports and manuscripts.
• Serve as principal investigator and co-investigator on federal, state, and foundation grant efforts.
