About The Position

The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, Department of Lymphoma/Myeloma, is recruiting for a clinical research faculty member with a sub-specialty of Multiple Myeloma. Physicians with extensive research experience in clinical investigation and outcomes research, particularly in plasma cell dyscrasias such as Amyloidosis, Waldrenstroms, and MGUS, are strongly encouraged to apply. The successful candidate will have actively engaged in research in cancer biology relevant to hematologic malignancies and will have protected time to lead and develop programs in translational clinical research and scholarly activities. The candidate will seek funding for research, mentor trainees, and collaborate with other clinicians and scientists. Requirements

M.D. or M.D. and Ph.D. degrees.
For M.D.s: Demonstrated ability to practice medicine, particularly Oncology.
Eligible for American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS) certified clinicians in their primary specialty.
Board eligible for sub-specialty certification.
License eligible in the State of Texas.
At least 5 years of experience post-degree with any combination of time as a clinician, clinical scientist, or GME trainee (excluding specialties with shorter residencies or fellowships).
Evidence of commitment to scholarly activity.
Proof of scientific accomplishments.
Excellent writing and communication skills, as evidenced by peer-reviewed publications.
Presentation skills for professional meetings.
Demonstrated ability to obtain extramural funding for translational research.

Nice To Haves

Sub-specialty in Multiple Myeloma.
Extensive research experience in clinical investigation and outcomes research.
Particular focus in plasma cell dyscrasias such as Amyloidosis, Waldrenstroms, MGUS.
Experience in stem cell transplantation and cellular therapies in high-risk Multiple Myeloma.
Research in cancer biology with potential relevance to the biology of hematologic malignancies.
Scholarly activity to enhance the academic environment of the department.

Responsibilities

Lead and develop programs in translational clinical research and scholarly activities.
Seek appropriate funding mechanisms to support translational and clinical research.
Assist with mentoring young faculty, fellows, and other trainees.
Contribute to the overall mission of the department.
Collaborate with other clinicians, scientists, and physician-scientists within the institution.
