About The Position

The Department of Biomedical Sciences at the Iowa State University College of Veterinary Medicine invites applications for two tenure-track faculty positions at the rank of Assistant Professor. These are full-time, 9-month positions with salary commensurate with qualifications. The successful candidates will join a department with active research programs in pharmacology, neuroscience, vaccine development, infectious disease, and molecular and cell biology. These individuals will be expected to establish a dynamic, extramurally-funded research program within these or a complementary field pertinent to human and/or animal health. The successful candidates will also teach pharmacology to professional and/or graduate students. Research programs in pharmacology-relevant disciplines are of particular interest, including neurobiology, cellular signaling, drug mechanism and mode of action, endocrinology, toxicology, and receptor or antimicrobial pharmacology.

Requirements

PhD with research experience relevant to Biomedical Sciences

Nice To Haves

Research plans and experience relevant to Pharmacology or other Biomedical Sciences
Strong record of publication in peer-reviewed journals relative to appointment
Demonstrated success obtaining extramural funding
Evidence of effective research mentoring experience
Teaching engagement at a university or professional school

Responsibilities

Establish a dynamic, extramurally-funded research program within pharmacology, neuroscience, vaccine development, infectious disease, molecular and cell biology, or complementary fields pertinent to human and/or animal health.
Teach pharmacology to professional and/or graduate students.
