About The Position

Misericordia University Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position in Biochemistry to begin August 2027. We seek an enthusiastic teacher-scholar who is committed to excellence in undergraduate teaching, student mentorship, and an active undergraduate research program. The successful candidate will teach junior-level courses in biochemistry in addition to general chemistry courses that support students in health-related fields, including nursing, physical therapy, and exercise science programs, and other courses as needed. Teaching responsibilities will include lecture and laboratory instruction.

Requirements

• Ph.D. in Biochemistry, Chemistry, or a closely related discipline by the time of appointment
• Demonstrated commitment to excellence in undergraduate teaching
• Ability to teach upper-level biochemistry courses and general chemistry lecture and laboratory courses
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Commitment to mentoring diverse learners in a student-centered environment
• Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Misericordia University is not able to sponsor or transfer employment visas for this position.

Responsibilities

• Advising and mentoring undergraduate students in the chemistry and biochemistry programs
• Maintaining an active scholarly agenda that engages undergraduate students in our chemistry and biochemistry programs
• Participating in departmental curriculum development and assessment
• Supporting the maintenance of departmental instruments and equipment
• Providing service to the department, university, and professional community
