About The Position

This position is for a faculty member in Counseling, with the potential for a Department Chair role. The role requires a doctoral degree in Counselor Education with a focus on Clinical Mental Health Counseling from a CACREP accredited program. The candidate should have demonstrated experience in administration and/or leadership in higher education, clinical experience, supervision experience, and a strong record of research, scholarship, professional service, leadership, and advocacy. Experience with both traditional and online teaching methods, recruitment and retention activities, and professional counseling organizations is also required. Licensure in Alabama is necessary. For those interested in the Department Chair position, additional experience in administration, curriculum evaluation, program development, and familiarity with the CACREP accreditation process is expected. Grant writing experience is highly desired.

Requirements

Earned doctoral degree in Counselor Education (Clinical Mental Health Counseling focus) from a CACREP accredited program
Demonstrated experience and/or potential in administration and/or leadership in higher education
Eligible to hold the rank of Assistant, Associate Professor, or Professor
Three years of full-time or equivalent clinical experience
Additional experience as a clinical supervisor
Evidence of counseling, supervision, and teaching experience in counselor education
Evidence of the ability to maintain a record of high-quality research and scholarship
Evidence of the ability to engage in professional service, leadership, and advocacy
Evidence of the ability to engage in the integration of advocacy and ethical practice into the preparation of counseling professionals
Experience teaching in traditional and online instructional methods
Evidence of the ability to lead recruitment and retention activities
Must hold or be eligible for certification and licensure in the State of Alabama
Evidence of sustained memberships in professional counseling organizations
Professional development and renewal activities related to counseling
Demonstrated experience in administration and/or leadership (for Department Chair)
Administrative and professional experiences related to clinical mental health counseling (for Department Chair)
Experience in counselor education curriculum evaluation and program development (for Department Chair)
Experience or familiarity with the CACREP accreditation process (for Department Chair)

Nice To Haves

Credentialing for counseling supervision by the state board or eligibility for supervision credentialing by the state board is highly desired
Extensive demonstrated field experience post degree is highly desired
Grant writing experience
