The Department of African American Studies at California State University, Fullerton (CSUF) is seeking a tenure-track Assistant Professor with a focus on Black Cultural Studies. The position begins Fall 2027. CSUF is a minority-serving institution committed to diversity and inclusion. The appointed faculty member will develop and teach courses in Black Cultural Studies and creative expression, including introductory courses and specialized topics such as Intro to Black Creative Expression, Black Lives Matter Creative and Critical Ideas, Hip Hop Culture, and Black Representations in Film. Junior faculty typically teach 3 classes per semester, with a reduced load for the first two years. Responsibilities include producing scholarship, advising students, serving on committees, and participating in departmental and university life. The department is interdisciplinary and collaborates with other ethnic studies departments. Faculty are expected to be teacher-scholars engaged in active learning and assessment.
