About The Position

This role coordinates activities of workers engaged in production activities. The Assistant Production Supervisor will assist with line set-up, analyze work orders to create production schedules, provide safety and automation training, and focus on new items and steak yields. This position also involves computing stock and supply needs, assisting supervisors with paperwork, handling meat distribution, estimating and inspecting materials, ensuring proper product labeling, and inspecting products to verify conformance to specifications. The Assistant Production Supervisor will guide workers in adjusting machinery, interface with other departments to meet customer deadlines, assist with audit and customer visit preparations, and train new and existing employees. The role also includes focusing on tasks at the end of the production line, acting as a backup for supervisors, and recommending improvements to production methods, equipment performance, and product quality. Additionally, the position involves suggesting changes to working conditions to increase efficiency and working with supervisors to resolve work problems. Maintaining time and production records is also a key responsibility. Consistent and regular, in-person attendance is required.

Requirements

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Knowledge of Inventory software and Manufacturing software.
  • Must be reliable and safety conscious.
  • Must have good attention to detail and excellent communication skills.
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or two to three years related experience.

Responsibilities

  • Assists with line set-up.

  • Inspects and measures and products to verify conformance to specifications.
  • Provides guidance to workers in adjusting machines and equipment to repair products which fail to meet standards.
  • Interfaces with others in the organization to ensure customer deadlines are met.
  • Assists with audit preparation and customer visit preparations.
  • Trains existing and new employees on company procedures.
  • Focuses on tasks at the end of the line.
  • Acts as back-up when supervisors are on vacation.
  • Recommends measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product.
  • Suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of shop, department, or work crew.
  • Analyzes and works with supervisors to resolve work problems, or assists workers in solving work problems.
  • Maintains time and production records.
  • Performs other duties as needed.
