About The Position

Ferrero USA, a leading global confectionery manufacturer with a strong track record of innovations and a great reputation for the quality of its products, is looking for an Assistant Supervisor to support our Production Operations team. This position is based at our Somerset, NJ location and reports directly to the Production Manager/Shift Supervisor. The primary responsibility of the Assistant Production Supervisor is to support the execution of daily production operations within a designated production area. This role ensures adherence to safety and quality standards, and assists in driving operational efficiency in a fast-paced co-packing environment. This is a non-exempt position and may require overtime and schedule flexibility based on business needs.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • 3–5 years of experience in manufacturing, food production, or co-packing operations.
  • Knowledge of production operations, manufacturing processes, and production equipment.
  • Understanding of GMPs, food safety, sanitation, and quality systems.
  • Experience supporting production scheduling and labor coordination.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and team-building skills.
  • Ability to troubleshoot operational issues and make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to effectively work in a diverse, multicultural workforce.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint).
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and adapt to changing business priorities.
  • Lifting up to 50lbs., bending, stooping, kneeling, walking, standing for extended periods, frequently repeated manual tasks.

  • Experience working with SAP/ECC or other ERP systems preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Production Supervisor in executing daily production schedules and meeting customer requirements.
  • Provide direction to line leads within assigned production areas.
  • Assist in supervising production operations to ensure compliance with product specifications, GMPs, sanitation procedures, and food safety requirements.
  • Coordinate and support product changeovers to minimize downtime and maximize efficiency.
  • Help determine labor allocations and staffing requirements to support production objectives.
  • Create and manage associate break schedules while maintaining operational coverage.
  • Monitor line performance, identify operational issues, and escalate concerns when needed.
  • Work with Material Handlers, Warehouse personnel, and Planning teams to ensure timely availability of bulk materials and packaging components.
  • Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas while promoting an injury-free workplace.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, PPE requirements, and company safety policies.
  • Monitor product quality and support efforts to reduce waste, scrap, and rework.
  • Assist with employee training and onboarding to ensure standard work practices are followed.
  • Assists in managing 100+ associates
  • Communicate production priorities, performance metrics, and operational issues during shift meetings and handoffs.
  • Partner closely with Maintenance, Sanitation, Quality, Warehousing, and Production Management to resolve operational challenges.
  • Serve as the primary escalation point for line leaders and production associates within the assigned area.
  • Works with Temp Agency on-site supervisor on related issues when needed.
  • Assist with documentation and recordkeeping to support traceability, quality compliance, and audit readiness.
