About The Position

Jefferson Southern Corporation (JSC) is a Tier One automotive supplier that produces and sells parts ready for installation in automobiles. These parts are stamped from steel and then welded, forming vital components of the car's "white body" or interior shell, contributing to the vehicle's strength, safety, and performance. This role is responsible for the effective utilization of labor and equipment, aiming for the maximization of quality, safety, and productivity within cost and delivery parameters. The Assistant Production Manager will support the development and maintenance of Standard Work Instructions and Visual Plant activities, and assist with technical and non-technical issues within the department, escalating concerns when additional support is needed. This position requires close collaboration with Quality, Engineering, Maintenance, HR, MSPC, and other departments to resolve production-related issues. The role involves monitoring the production floor, providing support to team leaders, coordinators, and associates, and conducting timely coaching and counseling. Additionally, the Assistant Production Manager will assist with employee development, training, and performance improvement, including supporting the training of team leaders and associates, and assisting with performance evaluations. The role also includes preparing production reports, participating in various meetings, supporting new model launches, and adhering to all company policies, quality standards, and environmental requirements.

Requirements

  • BS/BA Degree preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Knowledge of quality systems and manufacturing processes.
  • Experience in a high-volume manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Automotive industry experience preferred.
  • Experience leading, supervising, coaching, or coordinating employees.
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Project management or continuous improvement experience preferred.
  • 3–5 years of manufacturing, production, supervisory, or leadership experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for effective utilization of labor and equipment, maximization of quality, safety and productivity within cost and delivery parameters.
  • Support the development and maintenance of Standard Work Instructions and Visual Plant activities.
  • Assist with technical and non-technical issues within the department and escalate concerns when additional support is needed.
  • Work closely with Quality, Engineering, Maintenance, HR, MSPC, and other departments to resolve production-related issues.
  • Report significant downtime to Management, particularly when downtime exceeds established expectations.
  • Monitor the production floor and provide support to team leaders, coordinators, and associates as needed.
  • Conduct coaching and counseling with associates in a timely manner and communicate significant employee concerns to the Production Manager and HR.
  • Assist with employee development, training, and performance improvement.
  • Support the training and development of team leaders, coordinators, and associates.
  • Assist with performance evaluations for coordinators and review team leader evaluations as assigned by the Production Manager.
  • Prepare and maintain assigned daily, weekly, and monthly production reports.
  • Actively participate in daily production meetings, management meetings, and other meetings as requested.
  • Support new model launches and related production activities.
  • Follow all applicable company policies, work instructions, quality standards, and environmental requirements.
  • Follow applicable IATF, ISO 14001, customer, and company requirements.
  • Complete required timesheets and submit them according to company procedures when applicable.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Production Manager or Plant Manager.
