About The Position

SPS Companies’ Fire Protection Division (Pipe Fabricators) is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Assistant Production Manager to join our Maple Grove team. This position plays a key role in ensuring smooth day-to-day operations across our production and warehouse teams. The ideal candidate will have strong computer and communication skills, thrive in a fast-paced environment, and possess experience in production, manufacturing, or fabrication. This is a union position with a starting wage range of $22 - $33/hour based on experience.

Proven problem-solving and analytical skills.
Ability to build positive working relationships across departments.
Experience in production, manufacturing, or fabrication preferred.
Undergraduate degree preferred.

Responsibilities

Assist the Production Manager in overseeing shop and warehouse staff.
Coordinate and monitor production flow to ensure timely project completion.
Provide turnaround dates for sales staff and communicate production updates.
Identify and propose solutions for operational challenges.
Schedule and coordinate daily LTL and truckload shipments.
Manage deliveries with company trucks and create Bills of Lading (BOLs).
Verify job status, prepare shipment paperwork, and process billing invoices.
Direct lift operators to optimize material flow and productivity.
Promote a positive, team-oriented work environment.
Research and resolve AP and inventory discrepancies; enter inventory adjustments as needed.
Notify sales of any production delays.
Conduct regular product and pipe counts (quarterly pipe counts, annual inventory).
Analyze operations to minimize overtime and improve processes.
Work with sales to enhance customer experience and communication.
Perform other duties as assigned.
