About The Position

Berkshire Hathaway GUARD is seeking talented and results-driven professionals to join our team as an Assistant Product Manager for our Commercial Auto line of business. This individual will collaborate closely with the line of business leader and play a pivotal role in documenting and versioning strategies. This role requires a strong ability to contribute data- and experience-driven ideas while actively supporting the execution of strategic initiatives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree preferred with concentration in Risk Management, Business, Economics, Finance, Math, Statistics or Actuarial Sciences.
  • 3+ years of Product Management experience in the insurance industry; production underwriting experience preferred but not required.
  • Exhibit knowledge of industry trends, state regulations, and compliance processes.
  • Promote and exemplify data driven analysis and decision-making.
  • Promote and exemplify a culture of collaboration, including stakeholders at various levels and in various departments.
  • Exhibit an ability to work independently and creatively problem-solve.
  • Proficient with MS Office with a focus on Excel and PowerPoint.

Nice To Haves

  • SQL skills preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Providing support to the line leader and other team members regarding strategic input and making actionable recommendations pertaining to the line of business focus, including the development of underwriting guidelines, appetite, rating algorithm, and product strategies.
  • Partnering with team members and key business stakeholders – including the Distribution, Actuarial, Product Development, Data and Analytics, and Technology teams – to devise and deliver system and process solutions aligned with the line of business initiatives.
  • Conducting post-implementation monitoring for line of business specific strategies based on success criteria.
  • Supporting and conducting portfolio analysis with guidance from the line of business leader on KPIs
  • Collaborating with the training and marketing teams to develop communication, training, and marketing materials in support of new or enhanced products and initiatives.
  • Researching market competitor intelligence.
  • Demonstrating awareness of each state’s regulatory environment and legislative rules to ensure that compliance standards are met and assisting with responses to the objections of various Departments of Insurance.
  • Documenting, maintaining, and implementing appropriate version control for various underwriting guidelines, strategies and enhancements.
  • Assessing and implementing strategy for multiple diverse distribution channels, including Direct to Consumer and Retail Agencies.
