About The Position

The Assistant Principal role at Montgomery Ridge Intermediate School (MRIS) is a full-time position requiring 8 hours per day for 235 days per year. The start date is June 2026. This position demands a strong understanding of student discipline, instructional standards, and data-driven professional development. The Assistant Principal will be responsible for evaluating teachers, supporting a positive school culture, and utilizing technology for blended instruction. They will also provide emotional and behavioral support to students and manage various administrative responsibilities including facilities, athletics, scheduling, budgeting, and safety drills. Loyalty to the school and district is paramount. The role also involves physical duties such as lifting up to 50 pounds, sitting, walking, and standing for extended periods.

Requirements

  • 5 years of full time successful teaching experience
  • Strong abilities in classroom management
  • Strong abilities in building a positive culture
  • Strong supportive, responsive relationship building skills
  • Current Tennessee Teaching License
  • Current Tennessee Administrator License (ILL-B or ILL-P) is preferred; ability to obtain licensure is acceptable
  • Successful teacher leadership and/or administrative experience

Responsibilities

  • Understand, structure and implement a consistent, discipline program for students in grades 4-7
  • Understand and evaluate instructional standards, instructional shifts, and available resources and work with other educators to develop data driven professional development
  • Possess and utilize teamwork skills
  • Apply an understanding of Regular and Special Education laws, rules and regulations
  • Utilize formative and summative assessment resources to track student growth and progress toward district and school goals
  • Communicate effectively with a variety of stakeholder groups (students, staff, parents, community)
  • Perform the process of teacher evaluations with fidelity and provide accurate feedback that leads to improved student achievement
  • Support a positive school culture focused on student needs and access, as well as supporting certified and classified staff
  • Be knowledgeable in technology as it relates to blended instruction in a 1 to 1 environment
  • Provide emotional and behavioral support to resolve student issues including conflicts, harassment, and bullying offenses
  • Plan for and organize any additional responsibilities including, but not limited to: Facilities; Athletics; Master Scheduling; Budgeting; School Crisis Plan and Safety Drills; Duty Schedules, Testing; Attendance; and Transportation
  • Demonstrate irreproachable loyalty to school and district
  • Perform the physical duties associated with this position (e.g., lifting up to 50 pounds onva regular basis, sitting for long periods of time, walking, seeing, standing for extended periods of time, etc.)
