About The Position

Allegro Charter School of Music is seeking an Assistant Principal for the 2026–2027 school year. This role involves establishing expectations, building relationships, solving problems, remaining flexible, maintaining professionalism, communicating effectively, working as part of a team, staying organized, and ensuring adherence to curriculum standards. Duties will be assigned by the Principal. The school is a public charter school sponsored by the Charleston County School District, serving students in grades 6–12. The mission is to produce inspired thinkers and creative members of society through the infusion of music into an academically challenging environment. The ideal candidate is creative-minded, collaborative, adaptive, flexible, energetic, positive, resilient, and hard-working. As a 1:1 school, experience with classroom technology and a commitment to innovation are essential. A genuine love of music is paramount. Strong classroom management skills and clear routines are necessary. The school culture thrives on friendly, outgoing people who enjoy collaborating.

Requirements

  • Classroom experience is required.
  • Music or secondary teaching experience preferred
  • Valid SC Administration Certificate (or ability to obtain one before employment) and highly qualified in a subject area
  • Satisfactory criminal background check and drug screening
  • Strong technology skills
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
  • Genuine appreciation of music
  • Experience evaluating staff
  • Experience handling student disciplinary matters
  • Physically capable of frequently lifting or moving up to 40 pounds
  • Sufficiently mobile to ensure student safety
  • Ability to sit and stand for extended periods
  • Manual dexterity to use a telephone and perform data entry
  • Ability to read a computer screen and printed material with or without vision aids
  • Ability to hear and understand speech at normal levels and on the telephone
  • Ability to speak in audible tones so others understand clearly in person and on the telephone
