About The Position

Assists the campus Principal in the overall administration of the instructional program and campus-level operations to ensure maximum student learning. Coordinates assigned student activities and services. This role involves modeling KISD core organizational beliefs and values, communicating openly and effectively, managing resources to support District goals, providing program support, and maintaining a commitment to the District mission.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree
  • Texas principal or other appropriate Texas Certificate
  • Certified Texas Teacher Support and Evaluation System (T-TESS) appraiser
  • Three (3) years of successful classroom teacher experience
  • Knowledge of campus operations
  • Working knowledge of learner-centered curriculum and instruction
  • Knowledge of TEA related rules, regulations, and procedures
  • Ability to evaluate instructional program and teaching effectiveness
  • Ability to manage budget and personnel
  • Ability to implement policy and procedures
  • Ability to interpret data
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills

Responsibilities

  • Encourage and support the development of innovative instructional programs and pilot efforts.
  • Participate in program evaluation and suggest improvements.
  • Reinforce expectations for staff performance in instructional strategies and classroom management.
  • Foster collegiality and team building among staff, encouraging their involvement in decision-making.
  • Take a leadership role in planning and implementing programs to achieve the school's mission.
  • Participate in the development of campus improvement plans with staff, parents, and community members.
  • Help the principal develop and maintain information systems for tracking campus performance.
  • Ensure responsiveness to diverse student needs and provide quality, differentiated instructional programs.
  • Work with faculty and students to develop a positive student discipline management system.
  • Ensure uniform application of school rules and equitable student discipline.
  • Conduct conferences with parents, students, and teachers regarding student and school issues.
  • Ensure adequate supervision of students during non-instructional periods.
  • Supervise reporting and monitoring of student attendance and conduct follow-up investigations.
  • Serve as chairperson for Admission, Review, and Dismissal (ARD) meetings.
  • Serve on student support committees as designated.
  • Coordinate transportation, custodial, cafeteria, and other support services.
  • Supervise athletic and after-school activities, including dances, tournaments, and UIL activities.
  • Work with department chairpersons to compile annual budget requests, requisition supplies, and verify receipts.
  • Assist with the management of school facilities and equipment, ensuring a safe and orderly environment.
  • Assist with safety inspections, safety drill practice, and crisis plan development and implementation.
  • Participate in the development of class schedules, teacher assignments, and extracurricular activity schedules.
  • Observe employee performance, record observations, and conduct evaluation conferences.
  • Serve as a second appraiser as needed for the designated teacher appraisal system.
  • Assist the Principal in interviewing, selecting, and orienting new staff.
  • Articulate the school's mission to the community and solicit support.
  • Demonstrate awareness of school-community needs and initiate activities to meet them.
  • Assist the principal in developing and communicating school guidelines for student conduct.
  • Ensure uniform observance of school rules and equitable application of consequences.
  • Record PEIMS data related to discipline.
  • Maintain confidentiality.
  • Develop and maintain systems for information retrieval and reporting.
  • Pursue professional development activities for self and staff, aligned with District goals.
  • Comply with all policies, procedures, legal requirements, and directives.
  • Comply with the Professional Code of Ethics and Standard Practices for Texas Educators.
  • Follow District safety protocols and emergency procedures.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
  • Supervise and evaluate the work of professional and paraprofessional staff as assigned.
  • Direct the work of teachers, custodians, paraprofessionals, clerical personnel, and others as assigned.
