St. Barnabas Catholic School is seeking a dedicated and faith-driven Assistant Principal to join our school community. The ideal candidate will support the principal in leading a nurturing, structured, and engaging school environment that promotes academic excellence, faith formation, and the development of the whole child. Requirements

  • Valid Indiana teaching license (administrative license preferred or ability to obtain)

Responsibilities

  • Support and actively promote the school's Catholic mission and philosophy in all aspects of school life.
  • Model Gospel values and foster a faith-filled environment rooted in Catholic teachings.
  • Assist in planning and participating in liturgies, prayer services, and sacramental life of the school.
  • Collaborate with parish leadership to strengthen school-parish relationships.
  • Assist the principal in supervising and evaluating faculty and staff.
  • Support implementation of curriculum aligned with diocesan and state standards.
  • Promote effective instructional practices, including differentiation and data-driven instruction.
  • Conduct classroom observations and provide constructive feedback to teachers.
  • Support professional development initiatives and PLC/cluster collaboration.
  • Oversee student behavior and implement discipline policies in alignment with Catholic values.
  • Foster a positive, safe, and respectful school culture.
  • Address student concerns, conflicts, and behavioral issues with fairness and consistency.
  • Communicate with families regarding student behavior, progress, and well-being.
  • Support supervision during school hours, events, and activities.
  • Assist with daily school operations including scheduling, arrival/dismissal, and supervision.
  • Help coordinate standardized testing (e.g., ILEARN, NWEA, IREAD).
  • Support compliance with state, diocesan, and accreditation requirements.
  • Assist in managing school safety procedures and emergency preparedness.
  • Collaborate with office staff on attendance, records, and communication systems.
  • Support MTSS/RTI processes and collaborate with intervention teams.
  • Assist in coordination of special education services (e.g., ISP/CSEP) and related compliance.
  • Work with counselors, social workers, and support staff to address student needs.
  • Participate in case conferences and support inclusive practices.
  • Serve as a liaison between administration, faculty, students, and families.
  • Assist in preparing school communications (newsletters, emails, reports).
  • Promote strong partnerships between school and families grounded in shared mission.
  • Represent the school at events, meetings, and community functions.
  • Support the principal in strategic planning and school improvement efforts.
  • Assist in faculty meetings, committees, and school initiatives.
  • Assume leadership responsibilities in the principal's absence.
  • Contribute to hiring, onboarding, and mentoring of new staff.
