About The Position

This position serves as the educational assistant of the school, supporting educational programs and services. The Assistant Principal assists the principal in implementing district programs, policies, and procedures, and is responsible for the school and its educational program. This role involves providing effective curricular leadership, assisting with staff selection, induction, and development, and evaluating personnel. The Assistant Principal also provides leadership for positive educational change, communicates and promotes standards of performance, and balances administrative and supervisory duties. They identify needed changes in the school plant, assist with fiscal management, and utilize effective practices to promote desirable student conduct. Key skills include problem analysis, decision-making, judgment, communication, and positive interpersonal relations with students, staff, and the community. The role requires promoting a positive interpersonal climate, adhering to administrative standards, participating in professional growth, and modeling positive work habits. Responsibilities may extend beyond the school as assigned by the principal, and adherence to the professional code of ethics and maintaining regular attendance are expected. Familiarity with and incorporation of technology in daily tasks is also required.

Requirements

  • Valid State Teacher Certificate (Preferred)
  • Appropriate Administrative Certificate

  • Assist with responsibility for the school and educational program.

  • Assist in effective evaluation of all personnel.

  • Budget time to achieve balance between administrative and supervisory duties.
  • Identify needed changes and improvement in school plant.
  • Assist to provide sound fiscal management of building resources and programs.
  • Utilize effective practices to promote desirable student conduct.
  • Demonstrate effective skills in problem analysis, decision-making, and judgment.
  • Demonstrate effective communication skills.
  • Demonstrate positive interpersonal relations with students, staff, and community.
  • Promote and nurture a positive interpersonal climate in the school building.
  • Adhere to the administrative standards set by the Hardin County Board of Education.

  • Assume responsibilities outside the school as related to school matters.
