About The Position

The Los Angeles Unified School District seeks an outstanding Assistant Principal, Secondary Counseling Services (APSCS) to collaborate with the principal to lead the students, staff, and community at Woodrow Wilson High School towards building paths to graduation, academic excellence, and success beyond secondary school. Woodrow Wilson High School is a comprehensive, single track high school in Northeast Los Angeles, serving approximately 1,200 students in grades 9th - 12th. The student population consists of 93% Hispanic students, 23% gifted and talented students, 22% students with disabilities, and 4% emergent bilingual students. Wilson High School operates on an eight period bell schedule and offers a variety of academic pathways, including three Magnet programs (Police Magnet, Firefighter/EMS Magnet, and Administrative Law Magnet) and a robust International Baccalaureate (IB) program. The school is also an AVID National Demonstration Site, demonstrating its commitment to preparing all students for college, career and life. Wilson High School is located at 4500 Multnomah St., Los Angeles, CA 90032.

Requirements

  • Five years of successful full-time public school district certificated service
  • A minimum of three years of experience as a teacher in a K-12 program
  • No fewer than two years of successful experience in a middle/senior high school counseling office
  • A valid California teaching credential requiring a Bachelor's degree and a program of professional preparation, including student teaching
  • A valid California Administrative Services Credential; applicants who do not possess a valid California Administrative Services Credential may be eligible to participate in the LAUSD Preliminary Administrative Services Credential Intern Program designed specifically for the APSCS position
  • A valid Pupil Personnel Services Credential
  • A Master’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university
  • District Master Plan requirements
  • Multicultural coursework (Candidates have one year to complete this requirement)
  • For all school based administrative positions, candidates must be in the appropriate LAUSD eligible pool for the position or currently serving in the class for which they are applying. In order to be placed in the eligible pool, candidates must successfully complete the appropriate LAUSD Aspiring Administrator Program.
