The Los Angeles Unified School District seeks an outstanding Assistant Principal, Secondary Counseling Services (APSCS) to collaborate with the principal to lead the students, staff, and community at Gardena Senior High School towards building paths to graduation, academic excellence, and success beyond secondary school. Gardena High School is a comprehensive grade 9–12 secondary school serving a diverse student population representing multiple cultural, linguistic, and socioeconomic backgrounds. Gardena High School is a comprehensive grades 9-12 high school serving approximately 1,270 students in a diverse and multicultural community. The student population is composed of approximately 62% Hispanic/Latino, 27% Black/African American, 4% Asian, 1% White, and 3.2% Other/Multi-Racial students. The school serves a population of English Learners 7%, Students with Disabilities (12%), and students participating in the Black Student Achievement Plan (BSAP). The school offers a wide range of academic programs, including college preparatory coursework, Advanced Placement (AP), Dual Enrollment opportunities, Career Technical Education (CTE) pathways, and specialized support services for English Learners, Gifted and Talented Education (GATE) students, and students receiving Special Education services. Gardena High School is committed to increasing college and career readiness, expanding A-G completion rates, improving graduation outcomes, supporting postsecondary access, and ensuring equitable opportunities for all students through a comprehensive counseling and student support program.
