About The Position

Rocky Mountain Prep is seeking an Assistant Principal of Operations (APO) to lead the operational execution and systems that make excellent teaching and learning possible. The APO will design, manage, and continuously improve school-wide structures related to attendance, enrollment, facilities, safety, scheduling, and assessment logistics. They will build and develop high-performing operations teams, establish clear processes for accountability and communication, and use operational data to identify challenges and drive solutions. As a key member of the campus leadership team, the APO will partner closely with instructional and student services leaders to remove barriers to learning, steward resources responsibly, and ensure strong implementation of campus priorities. The goal is to create safe, joyful, and efficient school environments where staff can focus on instruction and students can thrive.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution
  • At least three years of school-based operations experience with demonstrated success improving systems, managing competing priorities, and driving strong execution
  • Two to three years of direct people management experience
  • Experience engaging effectively with families and community members, ideally in an educational context
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to continuous improvement of systems, structures, and procedures
  • Successful completion of a background check
  • Eligibility to work in the United States (Rocky Mountain Prep participates in E-Verify to confirm identity and employment eligibility)

Responsibilities

  • Leading the design and execution of daily operational systems that maximize instructional time, including arrival, transitions, supervision, dismissal, and attendance tracking routines.
  • Establishing clear and consistent processes for attendance monitoring and follow-up that support strong student persistence and achievement of average daily attendance goals.
  • Managing school-wide logistics such as scheduling, materials distribution, space usage, and event coordination to ensure smooth execution of campus priorities.
  • Developing efficient operational systems that enable teams to maintain excellence while focusing on the highest-impact initiatives.
  • Overseeing student recruitment logistics and enrollment processes to ensure schools meet enrollment targets and maintain strong student retention.
  • Building operational structures that strengthen family engagement and support positive scholar and family experiences.
  • Maintaining clear communication systems that keep families informed and aligned with school expectations, priorities, and opportunities.
  • Ensuring facilities are clean, safe, welcoming, and conducive to strong teaching and learning.
  • Leading safety procedures and emergency preparedness systems that protect students, staff, and families.
  • Managing supervision systems and campus logistics that reinforce student belonging and support positive school culture.
  • Maintaining accurate and accessible scholar and family data systems that support compliance, informed decision-making, and timely responses to student needs.
  • Managing school budgets and operational resources to ensure responsible stewardship and alignment to schoolwide priorities.
  • Supporting compliance with network, district, and state policies and operational expectations.
  • Managing and developing operations staff through regular coaching, clear expectations, and performance feedback that strengthens team effectiveness.
  • Building systems that promote accountability, candid communication, and continuous operational improvement.
  • Modeling solutions-oriented leadership and deep ownership for the execution of school priorities.
  • Serving as a key member of the campus leadership team to align operational systems with instructional and student services priorities.
  • Participating actively in leadership meetings, school events, and professional learning to ensure strong execution across the school.
  • Partnering proactively with instructional and student services leaders to align operational execution with academic and school culture priorities.
