About The Position

The Attleboro High School Assistant Principal (House AP) reports to the Principal and Associate Principals and is responsible for the success of the students in the House and provides staff with necessary supports to foster that success. The most qualified candidates will be licensed (or in active pursuit of licensure) as an administrator in Massachusetts and have leadership experience at the high school level.

Requirements

  • Massachusetts Administrative Certificate for Grades 9-12
  • Master’s degree in education, or a related services field
  • Experience at the high school level as it relates to student discipline; implementation and ensuring compliance with special education; and 504 regulations and legislation
  • Experience with and understanding of ML (Multilingual Learners) population
  • Ability to understand and interpret complex information, as well as respond clearly in writing about student services, especially special education-related issues, processes, and programs
  • Ability to serve as an active listener with all stakeholders, and provide clear and timely responses to questions and issues as they arise
  • Ability to analyze, and use data to establish goals for improvement as well as provide support for changes for service delivery models
  • Ability to use database, spreadsheet, internet, word-processing programs
  • Ability to effectively and collaboratively work with families, staff, collective bargaining representatives, and administration, on various issues
  • Ability to understand and apply school code, legislative proposals, and regulations in everyday situations.
  • Ability to prepare and present information in a variety of venues (Faculty Meetings, House Meetings, etc.)
  • Ability to lead and collaborate with other administrators

  • Leadership experience at the high school level

Responsibilities

  • Reports to the Principal and works as an active member of the school’s Leadership Team in collaborating with fellow administrators and other school personnel to coordinate and monitor appropriate services to students
  • Maintains effective channels of communication with staff, students, and families
  • Leads and participates in activities for continued professional growth
  • Represents the district at professional meetings and conferences
  • Provides an active and visible presence in district and school events
  • Confers with and alerts staff on school problems and needs
  • Serves as an active member of the school’s administrative team providing solutions to problems as they emerge
  • Conveys the special needs or circumstances of individual students to appropriate staff
  • Assists in compliance with Title IX and Title VI guidelines as well as other appropriate federal and state protocols
  • Assists in the planning and coordination of school/district programs
  • Works with building leaders and other staff to resolve student, staff and/or family issues
  • Prepares agendas and minutes of meetings
  • Monitors student attendance at the house level
  • Provides consultation, support, and oversight regarding special education, ELL (English Language Learners), and high needs students
  • Provides leadership on RTI (Response to Intervention) research-based interventions, DCAP (District Curriculum Accommodation Plan), etc.
  • Compares information or data with other records for verification
  • Supervises the maintenance of permanent and temporary student records
  • Maintains records required by district policy
  • Supervises and evaluates teaching and support staff
  • Assists in the recruitment, screening, hiring, assigning, and training of personnel
  • Investigates complaints regarding employee conduct and/or performance
  • Investigates employee complaints and grievances
  • Maintains administrative records; prepares reports and correspondence
  • Assists the Principal and Associate Principals in the overall administration of the school
  • Maintains orderly operation of the school by coordinating bell schedules, assemblies, and the like
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Principal
