12-month Administrator assigned to Glenbard East. Focus is on student support services, financial assistance, supervision and discipline, school spirit, and student involvement.

Requirements

  • Prior experience of at least five years in secondary classroom teaching and three years administrative experience
  • Dynamic leadership qualities that building strong relationships with students and staff
  • Clear communication skills (both written and oral)
  • Professional Educator License (registered in DuPage County)
  • General Administrator or Principal endorsement
  • Successful completion of ISBE Teacher Evaluator Training and Modules
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret documents such as correspondence, surveys and electronic media.
  • Ability to write professional communications.
  • Ability to present information effectively and to respond to questions from individuals and groups
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff and community members
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in written form
  • Ability to complete mathematical operations and apply concepts of basic mathematics
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
  • Ability to maintain current job skills as directed, especially in technology-related activities
  • Ability to perform essential duties with an awareness of school district requirements and School Board policies

Responsibilities

  • Works with the staff and community to build a shared mission, and vision of high expectations that ensure all students are on the path to college and career readiness and hold staff accountable for results.
  • Coordinates student service personnel, such as school counseling department chair, school nurse, dean of students, social worker interventionist, school psychologist, speech pathologist, and special education.
  • Develop Student Handbook.
  • Creates and implements systems to ensure a safe, orderly, and productive environment for student and adult learning for the purpose of achieving school and district improvement targets.
  • Supervise the issuance and use of student hall lockers, parking permits and visitors' passes.
  • Coordinate restorative intervention assignments (RIA), behavior intervention assignments (BIA), detentions and supervised study halls.
  • Approve all pay vouchers connected with student services.
  • Assist in the development and supervision of the activity budget.
  • Works with the school staff and community to develop a research-based framework for effective teaching and learning that is refined continuously to improve instruction for all students.
  • Select, assign, supervise and evaluate para-professionals.
  • Coordinate freshmen and transfer students transition and orientation.
  • Evaluate licensed staff.
  • Assist with student growth as measured by data.
  • Creates a collaborative school community where the school staff, students, families, and community interact regularly and share ownership for the success of the school.
  • Communicate with parents, students and teachers regarding student discipline and attendance.
  • Assist and consult with local community agencies connected with student services.
  • Supervise and coordinate free and reduced lunch and waiver applications.
  • Works with the school staff and community to create a positive learning environment by ensuring equity, fulfilling professional responsibilities with honesty and integrity, and modeling professional behavior.
  • Coordinate assignment of extra-curricular assignments as outlined in Appendix B of the Professional Agreement with the Glenbard Education Association.
  • Design programs to meet the needs of low income students.
  • Design programs that support multi-cultures and student diversity.
  • Works with staff and community to build a culture of high expectations and aspirations for every student by setting clear staff and student expectations for positive learning behaviors and by focusing on student's social-emotional learning.
  • Make staff extra duty assignments.
  • Supervise at school events; design and coordinate administrative and licensed staff supervisory assignments.
  • Facilitate PBIS and other climate related programs.
  • Other duties as assigned.
