The Assistant Principal for Academic Affairs is accountable to the Principal for the ongoing improvement of the teaching and learning at Roncalli! This person advances the mission of Roncalli High School by improving those areas which address what is taught, what is learned, how it is taught, and how the student is evaluated. Specific assigned duties would include but not be limited to the following: Ensures that the mission statement and the Catholic character of the school is integrated in the entire curriculum in an explicit way Oversees the Catholic Educator Advancement Program Assists with teacher observations of teachers not in the CEAP Review Process When necessary, works in conjunction with the department chairpersons, on the development of professional growth plans for teachers Oversees the mentoring/formation program for new teachers Publicizes professional development resources and opportunities for teachers Collaborates with the Director of Technology Integration in assisting teachers with the integration of technology into the teaching and learning in their classroom Oversees the effective, successful integration of all state and archdiocesan academic standards With the assistance of department chairpersons and guidance department co-chairpersons is responsible for the development of the master schedule along with the teaching schedule for all departments Ensures the dissemination of assignments for students experiencing an extended illness Enforces the attendance policy as it relates to excessive student absences Ensures compliance with all state and archdiocesan regulations with regard to attendance and health matters Oversees homebound instruction through Perry Township Schools when necessary for a Roncalli student Responsible for completing an exit form each time a student withdraws or is expelled from Roncalli and circulate that exit form to all necessary constituencies. Ensures for the administration of semester exams for students absent during exam week Previews weekly lesson plans from teachers who have less than three years of teaching experience at Roncalli Responsible for the scheduling teacher coverage of the make-up test room Responsible for handling student and/or parental concerns over teaching performance of course content Responsible for overseeing the timely updating of online grades by all teachers Oversees the implementation of remediation programs Facilitates the administration of summer exams for RHS online coursework Assists as necessary with the interviewing and hiring of new teachers Coordinates the Student of the Month program Assists with the supervision of the school from 7:15 – 3:15 and for extracurricular activities (dances, talent show, etc.) Oversees the exam waiver process for second semester seniors and sophomores and juniors with an AP course Oversees the end of the year teacher check-out process (grades, keys returned, technology returned, etc.) Participates in the annual curriculum review meetings with department chairpersons each fall Oversees the school's online curriculum programming With the assistance of the guidance department insures the publishing of the school's annual course catalog Attends guidance department meetings as their schedule allows Reviews for approval requests made by teachers for Youtube videos they wish to share with students Participates as a member of the Administrative Council Other duties as assigned by the principal
