About The Position

The Assistant Preschool Teacher supports the Lead Teacher in implementing activities that promote the physical, mental, and social development of children from birth through age 6. The role involves creating a safe, fun environment where children can build confidence and skills, and fostering positive relationships with children, families, staff, and school personnel. The Assistant Teacher is expected to be passionate about delivering effective programming in a busy environment.

Requirements

Experience working with children ranging from birth through preschool age.
Be at least 18 years old.
Ability to remain poised, positive, and energetic in a busy work environment.
Ability to plan and manage multiple tasks and develop solutions to problems.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
MMR immunization or a medical or religious exemption.
Ability to lift up to 40 pounds.

Responsibilities

Implement activities that meet children’s physical, emotional, intellectual, and social needs and align with the organization’s mission and priority outcomes.
Adapt teaching methods and instructional materials to children’s varying needs and interests.
Establish a program setting that ensures the health and safety of members.
Maintain classroom cleanliness and manage program supplies.
Follow Washington State Administrative Codes and applicable best practices.
Attend required meetings and trainings to maintain and improve professional competence.
Perform other duties as assigned.
