About The Position

New York Preschool & Kids Club is seeking a dedicated Assistant Preschool Teacher to join their mission of providing New York City’s youngest learners with a joyful, solid foundation for lifelong learning. This role involves being a vital support in an inclusive, nurturing classroom for 2, 3, or 4-year-olds. The Assistant Preschool Teacher will partner with the Lead Teacher to implement the Tools of the Mind Curriculum, guiding students through intentional play and fostering a culture of inquiry, independence, and social-emotional intelligence.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• 2+ years of experience working with children ages 2–5 in a group setting (preschool, daycare, or enrichment center).
• Must be a passionate teacher and lifelong learner.
• Physical exam and background checks are required for this position.

Nice To Haves

• An Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in ECE or a related field (or currently enrolled) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Partner with the Lead Teacher to implement engaging, play-based lessons using the Tools of the Mind Curriculum.
• Help set the stage for curiosity in preschoolers ages 2, 3, or 4.
• Ensure every student’s health and safety is the top priority.
• Help maintain a "safe-to-fail" environment where children feel secure enough to take risks and explore their world.
• Support the physical, cognitive, and emotional development of the "whole child".
• Help children navigate big feelings, social interactions, and daily transitions.
• Build trust with parents and caregivers through daily updates, sharing successes and challenges, and bridging school and home.
• Function as a seamless team with the Lead Teacher, creating a calm, organized, and joyful classroom flow.
• Actively engage with students during centers, circle time, and play.
• Take initiative in classroom preparation and transitions.
• Work collaboratively with the Head of School and other teachers to maintain the highest standards of safety.
