Assistant Preconstruction Manager

The Beck Group•Austin, TX

About The Position

The Beck Group is seeking an Assistant Preconstruction Manager to join a project team. This individual supports the preconstruction team leader and leads projects or scopes of work valued at $5 million to $15 million with oversight. The role involves estimating, model-based quantity takeoffs, project documentation, bid-day execution, subcontractor and vendor prequalification, scheduling awareness, risk identification, client presentations, and delivery of professional preconstruction materials. The Assistant Preconstruction Manager also supervises and mentors Preconstruction Engineers and Interns and contributes to process improvement and technology use in an integrated project delivery environment. The successful candidate will have a comprehensive understanding of building construction, strong time-management skills, and the confidence to lead while remaining open to mentorship. The position requires collaboration with design team members and an interest in improving preconstruction processes and technology. The role includes frequent computer and office-equipment use, regular movement around job sites—including uneven surfaces and stairs—and work in outdoor weather conditions. Equipment weighing up to 50 pounds may need to be moved on site, and much of the day is spent standing.

  • Understand basic scheduling and lead times.

  • Supervise and mentor Preconstruction Engineers and Interns.
  • Execute overhead, fee, insurance add-ons, billable wage rates, and benefits.
