About The Position

This individual is a seasoned aquatics worker with an understanding of a high functioning aquatic department and is able to perform various responsibilities in and around the pool area. Requirements

Previous lifeguarding experience
Current American Red Cross PR/CPR, AED, and First Aid Certified
Current American Red Cross Lifeguarding Certification

Responsibilities

Identify potential accident hazards
Remain alert and prevent accidents
Enforce pool rules to all participants
Carry a positive attitude toward all job responsibilities
Handle disciplinary situations with courtesy and fairness
Address customer service concerns and issues
Be on time for your scheduled shift
Respond quickly to the level of your training and emergency action plan
Remain physically able to demonstrate and perform rescues and lifesaving skills
Meet in-service requirements monthly
Find qualified substitutes for yourself in time of need
Notify manager of broken or unsafe equipment
Perform daily chemical testing and participant head counts when needed
Perform all aquatic duties; roving, climbing into guard chair, sitting in rescue ready position, and overall cleanliness of pool area
Take hourly head counts, journal them, and transfer them to excel documents on a daily, weekly, monthly basis
Run daily chemical checks and log them
Evaluate any potential hazards and either remove them or report them to the proper supervisor to care for the situation
Help with aquatic event set up and tear down
Be rescue ready at all times; equipped with rescue equipment, staff uniform, and whistle while on duty
Work flexible hours
Keep all certifications (PR/CPR, AED, First Aid, and Lifeguarding) up to date to perform job responsibilities
Be active in other Parks and Recreation responsibilities to help us reach our overall mission
