About The Position

Axalta is seeking an Assistant Plant Manager for its facility in Mt Clemens, MI. This role will manage all aspects of the site’s operations and serve as the site responsible leader for the Mt. Clemens campus. The Mt. Clemens facility is a key site within the Mobility Business Segment, with approximately 550 employees across all functions and over 300 operations employees within the span of control for this role. This position requires collaboration and partnership with Supply Chain, Sales/Marketing, R&D, and Customer Service teams. The successful candidate will translate Regional and Global operations strategy into local execution, ensuring efficient product flow and best-in-class service. Responsibilities include analyzing local plant requirements, developing and executing the manufacturing strategy, advancing the safety culture, leveraging industry best practices and financial analysis to enhance operations performance and improve cost position. The role drives process excellence and continuous improvement in all site metrics (Safety, Quality, Delivery, Inventory, Cost, and People), considering the latest developments in competitive technology, EH&S, and team development. The qualified candidate will be a high-energy self-starter with a strong work ethic, excelling at both tactical execution and strategic planning, motivated by a competitive industry, and an expert in fulfilling customer requirements and maximizing cost productivity. Excellent communication and leadership skills, along with deep, relevant experience across multiple functions of a best-in-class manufacturing organization, are critical.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, chemistry or related field; or equivalent experience
  • 8+ Years of experience in progressive manufacturing operations leadership roles
  • 5+ Years of experience leading managers of people
  • Prior experience in a Manufacturing environment as a leader in a manufacturing setting
  • Knowledge and experience leading in Process Safety Management (PSM) environment or highly regulated plant

Responsibilities

  • Full accountability for all operational aspects of an integrated coatings facility including production, warehousing, and maintenance
