About The Position

As the Assistant Plant Manager, you will ensure the proper facilitation of the team culture across all functional and cross-functional disciplines of operations within the facility. You will implement and refine improvement opportunities to maximize the performance of the total operations. Additionally, you'll ensure that all Company policy, legislative, safety, environmental, and quality required standards are implemented as appropriate and adhered to by all team members. This role leads instruction over the plant furnace(s) to achieve the KPIs (Safety, Quality, Productivity, Flexibility, and Cost) in line with Plant Objectives. We look to this position to provide continuous improvement principles in all areas of responsibility – technical, quality, safety, environment, financial, people. Additionally, this role ensures adequate resources from both internal and external service departments to ensure high performance and equipment reliability. This position is vital as it serves as the industry expert and leads as the plant's technical resource/knowledge base regarding glass. It is the responsibility of this person to stay connected with the latest learnings from our O-I partners and cascade accordingly to RMBC. This role is essential for the overall success of the partners.

Requirements

  • Advanced familiarity with glass manufacturing operations, including batch & furnace, forming, hot end, cold end, inspection, and finished goods handling.
  • Deep understanding of continuous process manufacturing, including furnace performance, forming stability, defect generation, and yield optimization.
  • Ability to lead through complex, high-temperature assets where uptime, quality, and safety are tightly coupled.
  • Strong working knowledge of glass quality systems, including AOQ/ISO-based controls, defect analysis, and customer quality performance.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze operating data and identify trends impacting quality, cost, reliability, or customer service.
  • Strong understanding of asset reliability principles (Capability, Availability, Reliability, Enhancement) as applied to furnaces, forming machines, and inspection systems.
  • Thorough knowledge of production planning and forecasting in a continuous manufacturing environment.
  • Proven ability to develop and execute process improvement plans, including technology upgrades, operator skill development, and cost-reduction initiatives.
  • Ability to apply structured root-cause analysis and problem-solving across technical, quality, and people-related issues.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Demonstrated understanding of OSHA regulations, plant safety standards, environmental compliance, and employee relations practices applicable to glass manufacturing.
  • Minimum of ten years in a leadership position managing multiple departments in a manufacturing environment.
  • Minimum of 7 to 10 years of glass industry experience with proven management and continuous improvement skills.
  • Ability to analyze data and recognize detrimental trends that could impact the company through increased costs, potential regulatory issues, or risk management exposure.
  • Flexibility to respond to frequent changes in production requirements and or systems and equipment failures.
