The Assistant Store Manager (ASM) is a bench role for a Store Manager (SM) or Store Director (SD) and mirrors the leadership presence of the SM/SD. The ASM is a key strategic partner, responsible for a specific component of the store business and a subset of the store team, but ultimately is a leadership generalist like the GM, driving daily operations of the store, including execution, sales results, NPS results, expense control, and colleague engagement. The ASM sets the standard for an outstanding customer experience, putting the customer first, always. The ASM supports and executes business strategies that position BOS as the local leader, driving sales, service, and loyalty. The ASM partners with the SM/SD to anticipate the daily needs of the business. The ASM fosters a test and learn environment and is flexible and agile, dreaming big is support of sales results and merchandising standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree from a 4-year college or university
  • 2+ years of experience
  • Effectively communicate and present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, and all levels of internal and external business partners
  • Ability to effectively plan and execute strategies.
  • Ability to monitor and maneuver workflow to achieve priorities.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule with retail hours, including day, evening, weekends, and/or holidays

Responsibilities

  • Deliver store performance metrics to plan: EBIT, Sales, Net Promoter Score, Expense Rate, Conversion, and Loyallist.
  • Ensure Operating Principles are fully embraced by the team with appropriate communication and culture.
  • Require and champion the use of selling technology to support a seamless customer experience.
  • Develop productive relationships with business partners including Merchandise Execution and Store Operations, to drive localization and operational excellence as a foundation for growing sales.
  • Oversee operational functions with a sense of urgency and efficiency with a strong emphasis on attention to detail.
  • Work in close partnership with SM/SD to lead store execution, from new receipts to selling, managing markdown and reverse logistics workload, and executing central merchandise strategies.
  • Serve as the ultimate role model of customer first, always, consistently demonstrating the urgency of servicing the customer in a professional and knowledgeable manner.
  • Drive store colleague engagement by building teams committed to a diverse and inclusive environment, supporting a culture of learning and development, and providing consistent feedback that drives employee engagement and retention.
  • Demonstrate product knowledge across all merchandise areas, including the ability to suggest and implement merchandising decisions to drive the business.
