The Faculty of Rehabilitation Medicine (FRM) at the University of Alberta invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track position at the assistant or associate professor level in the Department of Communication Sciences & Disorders (CSD). This position is located on North Campus, in Edmonton, Alberta. The Department of Communication Sciences & Disorders is one of three departments in the Faculty of Rehabilitation Medicine, which is the only freestanding faculty of rehabilitation medicine in North America, offering unique opportunities for collaboration. The department houses one of the largest speech-language pathology education programs in Canada, offering a course-based Master of Science in Speech-Language Pathology (MScSLP) program with a distributed education model across two campuses, and also offers a thesis-based option and a combined MSc/PhD program. Faculty members are involved in MSc and PhD thesis-based degree programs in Rehabilitation Science. The department's researchers have diverse programs spanning developmental language disorders, literacy, multilingual language development, neurogenic communication disorders, speech science, hearing science, and swallowing disorders, utilizing various methodologies and are internationally recognized. The department benefits from strong partnerships with educational, healthcare centers, and community organizations, including the Glenrose Rehabilitation Hospital, and maintains collaborations across the University of Alberta and beyond with institutes like WCHRI, NMHI, ISTAR, and SMART Network.
