About The Position

The Division of Metabolism, Endocrinology and Nutrition, Department of Medicine, University of Washington is accepting applications for a full-time faculty member at the level of Assistant or Associate Professor WOT (without tenure due to funding). Specific rank will be commensurate with experience and qualifications as generally described in UW’s Faculty Code Section 24-34. The position may be based at various University of Washington School of Medicine clinical practice sites, including Harborview Medical Center, University of Washington Medical Center-Montlake, and the UW Medicine Diabetes Institute. Anticipated start date is January 1, 2027. Specific start date is negotiable. University of Washington faculty engage in teaching, research and service. This academic position will involve both outpatient and inpatient clinical care, with a focus on outpatient diabetes management, teaching, and scholarly activities in the areas of diabetes and endocrinology. The candidate will be expected to conduct translational, and/or clinical research in the areas of diabetes, metabolism, and lipid disorders. The new hire will also contribute to clinical teaching through resident and fellow education and provide clinical service in the Endocrinology clinic and/or inpatient consultation service. Assistant Professors WOT are eligible for multi-year appointments and Associate Professors WOT hold indefinite appointments that both align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30). Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off.

Requirements

• MD or DO (or foreign equivalent)
• Eligible for medical licensure in the state of Washington
• Board certified or eligible (or foreign equivalent) in Endocrinology by the start date of employment
• For H-1B visa sponsorship: graduates of foreign (non-U.S.) medical schools must show successful completion of all three steps of the U.S. Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE) or equivalent as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services.
