About The Position

The Master of Science in Speech-Language Pathology Program at UAMS prepares future speech-language pathologists through an innovative educational model that integrates rigorous academic instruction with extensive clinical training on a major academic health sciences campus. The program emphasizes evidence-based practice, clinical excellence, interprofessional collaboration, cultural responsiveness, and compassionate, client-centered care. Students develop the knowledge and skills necessary to assess, diagnose, and treat communication and swallowing disorders across the lifespan while meeting national certification and state licensure standards. The program features small cohort sizes, individualized faculty mentorship, clinical experiences across medical, educational, and community settings, and interprofessional learning opportunities alongside students from other health professions. Graduates are prepared to serve individuals with communication and swallowing disorders in a variety of practice settings, including hospitals, rehabilitation centers, schools, private practice, and outpatient clinics. UAMS is Arkansas’ largest basic and applied research institution, providing outstanding clinical services through the main campus as well as eight regional centers.
