The Department of Surgery, Division of Acute Care Surgery, at Loma Linda University School of Medicine is seeking a fellowship-trained acute care surgeon to join our team at the Loma Linda and Murrieta campuses. The ideal candidate will be passionate about a teaching position in a collegial, multidisciplinary, faith-based environment. This division serves very busy, American College of Surgeons verified, adult and pediatric Level I trauma centers in the Inland Empire region of Southern California. Our catchment and referral area includes San Bernardino, Riverside, Mono, and Inyo counties with a population of more than 4 million people. The division consists of 13 full time surgeons and 10 APPs at 3 separate campuses. We see approximately 3000 major adult and 800 major pediatric traumas per year, as well as more than 4000 ED general surgery consults and almost 3500 operative cases a year. We attend on the Surgical ICU service with approximately 1200 patients per year. Our specialized Surgical Wound Assessment and Treatment (SWAT) clinic is projected to see almost 2500 patients per year. Education of residents is a primary focus and we have a GME-approved Surgical Critical Care fellowship. We are heavily involved in research at the institutional and multi-institutional level, including funded work from the Department of Defense and industry collaborations. We recently moved into a new, state-of-the-art hospital with 96 ICU beds, 192 floor/stepdown beds and 20 OR, including 2 hybrid rooms and robotic surgical capability, including a Da Vinci Xi unit in the ACS operating room. The LLUMC-Murrieta hospital is a university-owned, community-based hospital located in the beautiful Temecula area with approximately 160 beds including 12 ICU beds, 6 ORs, and a DaVinci Xi robot. Our team covers emergency general surgery approximately 42 weeks per year with 7-day APP support.
