About The Position

The Department of Marketing and Consumer Studies at the University of Guelph is seeking a scholar for a faculty position in Marketing. This role is open to candidates at the Assistant (tenure-track) or Associate (tenured) Professor rank, depending on qualifications. The department is looking for someone who can contribute to the evolving field of marketing, which is being reshaped by technology, sustainability, and changing consumer expectations. Requirements

  • Ph.D. in Marketing or a closely related field, or be in the final stages of completing doctoral studies.
  • For Associate Professor level, a Ph.D. and a record consistent with a tenured appointment.
  • Strong record of, or demonstrated potential for, research excellence and publication in leading marketing and business journals.
  • For Assistant Professor level, evidence of a promising research pipeline and potential to build a strong research reputation.
  • For Associate Professor level, an established record of high-quality research, publication in leading journals, and evidence of leadership or emerging leadership.
  • Ability or potential to seek external research funding and grants.
  • Ability or potential to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in marketing and related areas.
  • Evidence of teaching effectiveness, teaching innovation, or teaching awards will be considered an asset.
  • Commitment to supervising and supporting graduate students.
  • Openness to engaging with external stakeholders.

Nice To Haves

  • Research connecting with consumer behavior, consumer well-being, sustainability and marketing, digital transformation, new product development and innovation, marketing strategy and channel management, retail transformation, public policy and marketing, or societal transformation and well-being.
  • Evidence of teaching effectiveness, teaching innovation, or teaching awards.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct rigorous research in marketing, contributing to the evolving field.
  • Publish research in leading marketing and business journals.
  • Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in marketing and related areas.
  • Develop new courses and programming aligned with research interests and departmental priorities.
  • Supervise and support graduate students.
  • Engage with external stakeholders, including firms, community organizations, policymakers, industry partners, and research collaborators.
  • Contribute to the intellectual life of the Department and the Lang School.
